Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Around 41,300 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK each year.
Colonoscopies play a large role in the diagnosis of bowel cancer and monitoring after treatment. The CONSCOP study aims to look at an innovative way of doing a colonoscopy using a method called contrast enhanced colonoscopy, which involves spraying a blue dye throughout the large bowel. The primary aim is to study the feasibility of undertaking these procedures i.e. assessment of acceptability by participants and colonoscopists and time and costs involved.
