Abstract:

Working with partners, Public Health Wales Dental Public Health Team has made an impact on antibiotic prescribing in dentistry in Wales. Antibiotic prescribing in primary care in dentistry reduced by 32% between 2009/10 and 2016/17 following implementation of multiple ‘interventions’. Antibiotic prescribing in dentistry has been included as one of the primary care measures in Wales. Further work is required to develop a system of providing feedback on antibiotic prescribing to dental practices and practitioners in Wales.
