Be a Peer Reviewer
Are you interested in becoming a scientific peer reviewer for Public Health Wales’ research projects?
Under the Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care in Wales (2009), all research proposals must be subjected to review by experts in the relevant fields able to offer independent advice on its quality. For externally funded projects, proposals are often scrutinised for scientific quality at the funding application stage. For internally funded projects, the scientific peer review process is coordinated by the Research and Development Office within Public Health Wales.
The responsibility of a peer reviewer consists of reviewing protocols or proposals received by the R&D Office on an ad-hoc basis. You will be required to comment upon the methodology, aims, statistics, primary and secondary end points and importance of individual research projects. All comments are fed back to the researcher anonymously to contribute to the development of their project.
