First Steps: Members of the public and researchers working together

This half day course is part of the public involvement and engagement training programme and is aimed at researchers and people in the public involvement community. For researchers, this course will help improve your understanding of user/public involvement in research and how this will benefit your research.

The course is aimed at both researchers and members of the public:

**For researchers this course will help improve your understanding of user/public involvement in research and how this will benefit your research.

**For members of the public this course will help increase your understanding of user/public involvement in the research process and to expand your research knowledge to help your role.

This interactive course includes an overview of the research cycle and lay involvement, a discussion of service user roles and responsibilities and practical tips for effective involvement.

The format of the course will include presentations, group work and discussion.

Please note a certificate of attendance will only be issued if delegates complete all elements of the training.
