Alisha Davies is a Consultant in Public Health and Head of the Research and Evaluation Division.  She joined Public Health Wales in 2016 and is the lead for the organisational Research and Evaluation Strategy, NHS Research and Development Office for Public Health Wales, and the Research, Evaluation and Impact Team.

Alisha leads a strategically aligned research and evaluation programme across the team spanning the wider determinants, resilience, and early years relevant to public health policy and practice, and in collaboration with external partners. Her research interests include the impact of significant shocks to individual and communities (for example mass unemployment events, Brexit and rural communities) and exploring new areas including digital technology and health. Prior to joining PHW Alisha worked at the Nuffield Trust, a health policy and research think tank in England, on a number of high profile work programs including person based resource allocation (2011); informing the Department of Health’s strategy for integrated care (2012); reviewing quality ratings for the Secretary of State for Health (2013); and evaluations of new models of care (2014/5). 

Alisha has also worked in public health roles in a primary care trust, local authority, and an acute trust. She holds two MSc’s (Demography and Health, and Medical Parasitology) and completed her PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine –investigating differences in the treatment and coronary heart disease outcomes across the four constituent countries of the UK.
